5 years ago, I didn’t think I’d even be alive to see this moment. I was in one of the darkest places in my life, thinking I couldn’t go on. Then, just days after making my own plans, I got the call that my uncle had taken his life. That shook me to my core.
In that moment, I made a decision: I had to fight—for myself, for my family, for a future I couldn’t even see yet. It hasn’t been easy, but I’ve kept going, one step at a time.
Now, I’m standing here, holding this award, and I want you to know: this is for every Black trans man who’s out here surviving and thriving, despite it all. It’s for those we’ve lost and for those still struggling.
To anyone who feels like they’re barely holding on: I see you. I’ve been there. And I’m here to tell you—it does get better. Healing is possible, and you’re worth the fight.
Thank you to my community for holding me up. This win is ours. Thank you @transinclusivegroupfl for hosting an authentic and honest evening.
